Privacy policy

What this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 3 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Waheed Ghairat, a private individual in Malmö, Sweden, is responsible for the personal data processed on waheedghairat.com. If you have questions about your data, email waheedghairat@gmail.com.

The contact form

When you send a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, message and the topic you choose. The form is delivered by Web3Forms, which forwards it to my email inbox.

I use this information only to reply to you and, if we agree to work together, to carry out that work. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering enquiries and taking steps before a possible agreement (GDPR article 6.1 b and f). I delete messages within 12 months of our last contact.

Visitor statistics without cookies

I count visits with GoatCounter. It uses no cookies and does not store your IP address. It records which page you visit, where you came from (for example a search engine), your browser, screen size and country. This tells me which pages are useful and cannot be linked to you as a person. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (article 6.1 f).

Google Analytics, only with your consent

If you click Accept in the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 is also loaded. If you click Decline, it is never loaded.

  • What it collects: pages visited, actions such as sending the contact form or copying my email address, approximate location (city), device and browser.
  • Cookies: _ga and _ga_DLCEWB6FH5, which recognise returning visits and are kept for up to 2 years.
  • IP addresses: Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • Storage time: the data is kept for 14 months.
  • Who receives it: Google, as my data processor. Data may be transferred to the USA, where Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Google signals and data sharing for Google’s own purposes are switched off.

The legal basis is your consent (article 6.1 a). You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the cookies are deleted.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify. Like all web servers, Netlify processes technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, as my data processor. Fonts are stored on the site itself, so nothing is sent to Google Fonts.

Stored in your browser

The site remembers your theme choice (light or dark) and your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device and is only used to remember your settings.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. You can also withdraw your consent at any time. Email waheedghairat@gmail.com and I will respond within one month.

If you think your data is handled incorrectly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) at imy.se.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page is updated.
